Introduction: Addressing the Historical Claims of the Ramayana
Hello, my readers...good day!
As you might recall, my previous piece focused on the epic Ramayana, specifically addressing its controversial claim to history. This piece was more than just an exploration of an ancient story; it was an attempt to critically examine the narrative that often blurs the line between mythology and historical fact.
In that blog, I aimed to encourage rationality and critical thinking, emphasizing the importance of scientific evidence when considering historical claims. The intention was not just to inform but also to provoke thought and discussion among you, my readers. It was crucial for me that you become aware of such controversial interpretations, especially when encountering content that asserts these epics, be it the Ramayana or Mahabharata, as historical truths.
The Ramayana in Education???
Now why would I backtrack to that blog post, if you ask? This is basically an alarming thing. I suppose all my readers are aware of that already. We have the NCERT panel that is recommending the inclusion of these epics, that is Ramayana and Mahabharata in school textbooks.
NCERT, the National Council of Educational Research and Training is an autonomous organization of the Government of India, a literary, scientific and charitable society under the Societies Registration Act. This board, the Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE, follows the curriculum and textbooks that designed by NCERT.
